Note2:
Taking cues from the original Note and the
recently launched Galaxy S3, the new monster phone from
Samsung, the Note 2, has
acquired many tweaks that work in its favour.
Even with the bright HD Super AMOLED display that span 5.5 inches, the Note 2 isn't uncomfortable to hold. Indeed, it is slightly taller and less broader than its predecessor. The design with the curved edges looks very similar to the Galaxy S3.
The innovating S-Pen of the earlier version has been polished and tweaked further in its second avatar. As soon as the S-Pen is detached, the phone unlocks automatically and takes us to the S-Pen home page.
There is
also the new Air View feature that allowed us to hover the
S-Pen over an email, S
Planner, image gallery and video to preview content without opening it.
Then there is the Quick Command feature where we were able to customise our own shortcuts to launch the respective apps.
If the Galaxy Note 2 feels super-fast, its because the device is operating on the latest Android Jelly Bean and has a 1.6GHz quad-core processor paired with 2GB RAM. We are yet to test the 8MP camera and the battery backup of the 3,100 mAh battery.
But we will have the results of these in the full review of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 in the coming issue of Gadgets & Gizmos.
